The Avengers: Review

I finally got to see what smashed the box office this weekend, which was The Avengers. And if you read my blog before it is most likely about a Superhero movie, my first post was actually about this movie. So I was pumped to see this Superhero team up and it didn’t disappoint. To sum up the plot quickly for those who don’t already know it takes a team of super humans that come together to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki and his army who plan on taking it over. I must urge you to watch each charters own films before hand to understand this movie better and to get to know the charters better, but it’s not necessary to enjoy it. Continue reading

Join the Watch

“There is an alien invasion happening,”

The Watch is a summer movie which is about four neighborhood watchmen. The name has been changed from Neighborhood Watch because of the Trayvon Martin tragedy and even the first teaser trailer showed Jonah Hill’s character making a gun with his fingers pointing at a children. But the new trailer shows that it has nothing to do with that, but was just a sad coincident. The new trailer shows these four want to be cops making jokes and hanging out until they find an alien weapon. The movie stars Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn who have worked together a few times in comedies, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade who I do not know yet. Continue reading

The New Amazing Spiderman Trailer

“Secrets have a cost”

Since the Avengers opened in the U.S this week it makes sense that other superhero blockbusters would premiere their trailers before the showing. And that is what is gonna happen except for that we have the internet now, so we don’t have to wait to see them. So just like the final trailer to The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spiderman had its new preview out which gave us more of the plot. Continue reading

The Final Dark Knight Rises Trailer

“There’s a storm coming. You should be as afraid of him as I am,”

Yeah I know another Batman post right, well it because I’m very excited and new things keep coming out for it. Such as  a couple of days ago the 3rd and final movie trailer for The Dark Knight Rises was released online. This one reveals more of a plot, but still doesn’t give too much away. It goes against agenst what the other trailers showed us which was that Selina Kyle/Catwoman was against Batman, however in this one it shows them teaming up. So I think she may be against Bruce Wayne, but not Batman. Also, that she may not be bad but she may not be good either. It continues to show Bane being a badie having some serious hand to hand battling with Bats, plus we can understand his voice now. And everyone couldn’t help but notice that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (John Blake) was in the trailer as much as Batman was. So this shows that he may have a much bigger part than people expects. We also see some more of the “Bat” which is his sweet new jet. This reveals a lot more an gets me more and more excited for this ending of one of the greatest trilogies of all time.

Brave

“Change your fate.”

Brave is the newest Pixar film. This is the first feature of Pixar’s to have a female protagonist as the leading charter. The story is of a teenage princess is Scotland who wants to make her own destiny and not do what she is expected of her and become a lady and get married without any say in the matter. This wild hair red-head is granted an ill-fated wish by a witch and must discover the meaning of true bravery. She must go a journey to test her bravery and use her archery skills to undo the curse she recklessly unleashes in this fairy tale animation.

This is a Pixar’s film so it should be good just based off of that. This animation feature looks stunning and the graphics are becoming better and better with each film. This looks to be more dark and mature than most movies starring princesses and is nice to have a strong, “BRAVE” female as the main character. This movie looks to have the same silly humor as of all Pixar movies with adventure and I’m sure a good over all theme. This fun for the whole family film comes out June 22nd.

This Guy May Be Pearced, But He’s Only Getting Stronger

Guy Pearce is an actor who had a pretty good movie career in the 90’s starring in many films such as L.A. Confidential and Memento. However he kind of fell out of Hollywood for about a decade, he still acted just not in big well-known films. The last few years he has come back to Hollywood films with appearing in two Best Picture winners in The Hurt Locker and The King’s Speech.

His terrific performances has put this 44-year-old back in the lime light with him starring in this years sci-fi action flick Lockout, which got alright reviews and another  sci-fi film this summer Prometheus which is getting a lot of hype from fans of Alien since it’s rumored to be the prequel. He is also going to be in Lawless who he will share the screen with The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardly and Gary Oldman also Shia LeBeouf. And if this wasn’t enough to get this actor who fell out of the mainstream back on top he will be with another actor who had a major comeback as well Robert Downing Jr. in Iron Man 3.

Pearce is to play the role of geneticist Aldrich Killian. Just a few weeks ago Ben Kingsley join the cast as Tony Stark’svillain and now Pearce is added to the cast. So this movie is getting closer and closer to getting starting. We will be seeing a lot of Guy Pearce in the next couple years and I’m sure in years after that as well.

I Don’t Really Agree With 3D

The last few years more and more movies are coming out in three dimensions. This makes sense because of the new technology that has been created. But is this a good thing? Because it seems every big action or animation movie is ” in 3D”, but most of the movies have no reason for being in two dimensions rather than three. Or the studios threw in the 3D effect after to get up sales prices. One thing that is true is that the audiences must feel the same as me because the box office for movie theaters has gone done the last few years for a few reasons such as everyone has a big high-definition tv, redbox, and netflix, but one big reason was 3D. The fact is to take a date to the movies now a days isn’t cheap a single ticket can run around 13 dollars, plus the highly over priced popcorn and drinks.Isn’t worth it and to pay for a family could run your wallet over 60 bucks. Because a 2D movie ticket is still pretty expensive.

Some directors think that 3D is the future which it could very be if they improve a few things. Many big name directors have been making their films available in 3D such as Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. I myself haven’t seen them in 3D, but I am sure they did a good job. Like in the best 3D film I have ever seen Avatar, James Cameron is someone who believes it’s the future. He helped create new 3D cameras and other technology for Avatar which will be used a lot in the future of 3D development. He put years of work for it, a reason why Avatars 3D was so good is the screen coming out happened with little things like flowers just floating in the air, rather than just something jumping towards the camera. So I think if more movies put in the time it will be better for the audience.

However not ever director feels this way such as Christopher Nolan who doesn’t like 3D and thinks IMAX is the future and told Warner Brothers that he would not film The Dark Knight Rises in 3D. And you got to respect him for standing up for what he thinks will be best for his movie, rather than jump on the 3D trend.

My big issue with 3D movies is that I don’t find the experience worth it. It costs a lot for a ticket and my eyes get tired from having to wear the glasses for two hours for cheap, crappy effects that aren’t even that much cooler than the 2D version. There are some good ones, but most are really bad. So as you could tell I am not the biggest fan of 3D, I like it only if it is done right which doesn’t happen often enough. However I don’t think it is going away any time soon so I just hope it gets better and cheaper. I also hope it gets better soon because there are already 3D TVs out and the tech is getting better. Still I don’t think it will catch on until there is a way for that the 3D can happen without having to wear the stupid glasses. We’ll all have to wait and see and hopefully see in better 3D.

Looper

Is it still suicide if you kill your future self?

Looper takes place in the near future (2042) where Joe (Joesph Gordon-Levitt) is a hit man who must kill targets that are hogtied and blindfolded that are sent from the future (2072) and he is to simply shoot them in the head and dispose of the body. Joe does this until he realises his target is himself from the future played by Bruce Willis. He hesitates resulting in the escape of his older self. So you can imagine that things get complicated from there. Continue reading
