Brave

“Change your fate.”

Brave is the newest Pixar film. This is the first feature of Pixar’s to have a female protagonist as the leading charter. The story is of a teenage princess is Scotland who wants to make her own destiny and not do what she is expected of her and become a lady and get married without any say in the matter. This wild hair red-head is granted an ill-fated wish by a witch and must discover the meaning of true bravery. She must go a journey to test her bravery and use her archery skills to undo the curse she recklessly unleashes in this fairy tale animation.

This is a Pixar’s film so it should be good just based off of that. This animation feature looks stunning and the graphics are becoming better and better with each film. This looks to be more dark and mature than most movies starring princesses and is nice to have a strong, “BRAVE” female as the main character. This movie looks to have the same silly humor as of all Pixar movies with adventure and I’m sure a good over all theme. This fun for the whole family film comes out June 22nd.

Looper

Is it still suicide if you kill your future self?

Looper takes place in the near future (2042) where Joe (Joesph Gordon-Levitt) is a hit man who must kill targets that are hogtied and blindfolded that are sent from the future (2072) and he is to simply shoot them in the head and dispose of the body. Joe does this until he realises his target is himself from the future played by Bruce Willis. He hesitates resulting in the escape of his older self. So you can imagine that things get complicated from there. Continue reading

Teenage ALIEN Ninja Turtles

Hey readers,

So last week it was announced that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is getting a live action reboot. The producer is the big explosion action packed director Micheal Bay, he also announced that the mutant half-shelled heroes won’t be mutants at all but aliens. Which got many of the fans riled up and a big back lash all over the internet. The Bay responded by telling every one to “chill” and that they haven’t read the script and that everything will still be like the original charters. The director will be Jonathan Liebesman who’d new movie is Wrath of the Titans. Continue reading

Out Of The Furnace

During the last few weeks casting for the film Out Of The Furnace which was number five of the prestigious Black List of best unproduced screenplays of 2008. It is based on Brad Ingelsby’s story “The Low Dweller.” It will be directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) and will star my personal favorite actor Christian Bale.

The plot is described as “A dark drama set in 1986 Indiana. The protagonist is Slim, a man released after serving years in prison for murder who wants only to follow through on his promise to marry his long-suffering girlfriend. But when he discovers his brother has been murdered after getting involved in a gambling racket, his goals change and he avenges the murder.” Continue reading

Four Score and Slaying Vampires

“I hereby resolve to kill every vampire in America.”  – Abraham Lincoln

What if our beloved 16th President Honest Abe had a dark secret? A secret in which he helped save America with his axe rather than his words. That is the plot of the new movie Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter based off the book of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith. It is the life story of Abraham Lincoln, but with vampires. The book is written from a 3rd person narrative with journal entries of the president. I read the book and it is made up of all real facts with him avenging his mother’s death by hunting and killing vampires. The story is creative and works perfectly with filling in gaps of his life with him going on wild adventures and with seeing (the vampire meanings) of real events.

From what I have seen in the trailer of  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter looks like a thrilling tale that hasn’t been seen of one of our country’s best leaders. The special effects look great and I like the look and feel of the film from what I’ve seen. My only problem is it makes Lincoln look like he should be a member of The Avengers, making him jump and fight with superhero strength. The book said he was strong and a gifted fighter, but looks like Hollywood wanted more 3D action.  Still I think it will be a fun and action packed adventure with the guy with the big hat and funny beard slaying vampires and winning the Civil War.

Let’s Hope Spiderman 3D is better then Spiderman 3

“We all have secrets: the ones we keep… and the ones that are kept from us.”

The relaunch of the Spiderman franchise will swing into the big screens this summer and it may not be the story we all know. This reboot The Amazing Spiderman came less then 5 years after Spiderman 3 came out. This will focus on Peter Parker’s (Andrew Garfield) high school years, with his first love interest Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone) not Marry Jane who most people know. Spidey’s villian in this is the Lizard a giant half man half lizard monster who is Dr. Curt Connors Peter’s fathers old partner. It will be in 3D.

I loved the original Spiderman films growing up (minus Spiderman 3) so I thought it was to soon for a remake. But after hearing about it and seeing the trailer I am starting to want to see this. It looks like it is not the same exact origin story as the 2002 film, but does seem like the old Spiderman comics I read when I was young. The cast in this movie seems real good Andrew Garfield was great in The Social Network and even know he doesn’t seem that geeky as Peter Parker, he does seem like a fun smart mouth Spiderman(which I like) and I think Emma Stone is always funny and great in her movies. This fresh young reboot looks to please old fans and Bring in a whole new crowd.
